Help offset costs to keep Anzaldúa’s Borderlands/La Frontera in Print!
Dear Professor, Faculty, or Staff,
We are Aunt Lute Books and are writing in regards to Gloria Anzaldúa’s Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza, a title which you requested and received a desk copy of. We hope you found this text valuable to your class, department, or research as we find it to be an ever important, foundational text in Chicana, Queer, Women’s and Spirituality Studies. As Borderlands enters its twenty-fifth year and fourth edition, we are starting our first-ever Kickstarter fundraising campaign to help ensure Gloria’s legendary and transformative work stays in print and distribution.
If you are unfamiliar, Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing fundraising campaign where most successful projects are funded with donations of just five to ten dollars; campaign “backers” are offered an array of unique incentives for donating. As a small, non-profit multicultural women’s press staffed with part-time employees, we understand on multiple levels what tough economic times mean. We are writing to inform you of our fundraising campaign, with the hopes that if you cannot donate you would perhaps be interested in forwarding this information on to colleagues and friends. Additionally, all donations are tax-deductible.
Please, visit our Kickstarter page to view our video, hear more of our story, and read about our one of a kind prize incentives. Feel free to forward this email to anyone you think may be interested in preserving Gloria’s work. If you run a blog or other web presence, we have a bevy of promotional materials for your use. We have a list of web banners and other ways to spread the news about this exciting campaign, and we will gladly link back to, re-tweet, etc any postings made in promotion of our Kickstarter.
Thank you for your time and your interest in teaching Borderlands and furthering Gloria’s work!
